Nodict is utilized to help prevent the dependence on certain drugs and is part of a comprehensive treatment plan for substance abuse. It should not be used if you are currently taking opiates, such as methadone. The active ingredient in Nodict, Naltrexone, is classified as an opiate antagonist. It functions in the brain by blocking the effects of opiates and reducing the urge to use them. Additionally, Naltrexone is also employed in the treatment of alcohol dependence.
administer Nodict orally at a dosage of 50 mg once per day, with or without food, or as directed by your healthcare provider. If Nodict is part of a program monitored by a healthcare professional, your doctor may adjust the dosage to a higher level of 100-150 mg to be taken every 2-3 days. Ensure that you refrain from using any opiates for at least 7 days prior to beginning treatment with Nodict.
Inform your doctor before starting Nodict if you have any allergies to it, or if you have other allergies. Consult your physician if you have used any opioid medications within the past 7 to 10 days, if you have an existing opioid dependence, or if you suffer from active liver disease or liver failure. Make sure to discuss with your doctor any history of kidney disease or liver issues. During pregnancy, Nodict should only be used when absolutely necessary, so it is important to weigh the risks and benefits with your doctor.
There is a risk of hypersensitivity, allergic reactions to Nodict, and serious liver issues such as acute hepatitis and liver failure. You need to be free of narcotics before starting Nodict.
Some potential side effects include dizziness, nausea, headaches, anxiety, fatigue, and difficulties with sleep. A small number of individuals may experience mild withdrawal symptoms from opiates, which could include abdominal cramps, muscle aches, pain in the bones or joints, restlessness, and a runny nose. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist without delay. Most individuals using this medication do not experience severe side effects.
A serious allergic reaction to Nodict is uncommon; however, seek immediate medical help if you notice symptoms of a serious allergic response, including rash, itching or swelling (particularly of the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
