Tenoric is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). By lowering blood pressure, it helps to reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems, all of which are associated with high blood pressure. Chlorthalidone, in contrast, is a diuretic that encourages the body to expel excess fluid and salt, which helps blood vessels to relax and improves blood flow.
The appropriate dosage varies significantly based on the individual patient and the severity of their hypertension. Tenoric is taken orally and should be followed with a full glass of water. It can be consumed with or without food, but patients are advised to avoid taking it too late in the afternoon to prevent needing to use the bathroom during the night, which could disrupt sleep.
Tenoric is typically well tolerated, though some side effects may occur. It is important to inform your doctor about any side effects you experience. Reported side effects from patients using this medication include headaches, constipation, dizziness, dryness, decreased libido, dry eyes, and reduced appetite.
Tenoric may not be appropriate for every patient. Before starting Tenoric, make sure to inform your doctor about any other medical conditions or diseases you have, particularly those related to your heart, kidney, liver, thyroid, or if you have diabetes.
