Rexipra is utilized for addressing major depression, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is indicated for both acute and maintenance treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years. Additionally, Rexipra is employed for the acute treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Sometimes, it is prescribed off-label for other conditions, including social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The active compound in Rexipra is Escitalopram.
Take Rexipra with a glass of water once daily, with or without food. It should be taken at the same time every day as long as it has been prescribed. Depending on your condition, you may need to take this medication for an extended period. Your doctor might adjust your dose based on your treatment needs.
Common side effects associated with Rexipra include dry mouth, increased sweating, headache, paraesthesia, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, abdominal pain, vomiting, flatulence, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, abnormal dreams, lethargy, insomnia, drowsiness, reduced appetite, decreased libido, yawning, rhinitis, sinusitis, ejaculation disorders, impotence, anorgasmia, and menstrual irregularities. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as skin rash or hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Contact your doctor promptly if you develop any new or worsening symptoms, such as changes in mood or behavior, anxiety, panic attacks, sleeping difficulties, or feelings of impulsivity, irritability, agitation, hostility, restlessness, hyperactivity (mentally or physically), increased depression, or thoughts of suicide or self-harm.
Reach out to your doctor immediately if you encounter any serious side effects: severely stiff muscles, high fever, excessive sweating, rapid or irregular heartbeat, tremors, heightened reflexes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, unsteadiness, coordination loss, headache, trouble concentrating, memory issues, weakness, confusion, hallucinations, fainting, seizures, shallow breathing, or cessation of breathing.
Less severe side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, mild nausea, gas, heartburn, upset stomach, constipation, changes in weight, decreased sexual desire, impotence, or difficulty achieving orgasm, dry mouth, yawning, or ringing in the ears. This list is not exhaustive, and other side effects may also occur.
