Phexin is prescribed for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to its effects.
Typical infections treated with Phexin include: bronchitis; middle ear infections; laryngitis; pneumonia; throat infections; and tonsillitis.
Phexin is also indicated for urinary tract, skin, and bone infections.
Possible side effects may consist of: stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting.
If you experience any of the following side effects, seek medical attention right away: skin rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing, wheezing, unusual bleeding or bruising, sore throat, or vaginal infection.
Inform your doctor if you have an allergy to Phexin or any other cephalosporin antibiotics such as cefadroxil or cephradine, penicillin, or other medications. Also, provide a list of all medications you are taking, especially other antibiotics, anticoagulants (blood thinners) like warfarin (Coumadin), probenecid, and vitamins.
Notify your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney disease, stomach issues, or colitis. Also, let your doctor know if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while taking Phexin, contact your doctor.
