Tugain Solution is a topical treatment designed for androgenic alopecia, commonly referred to as male pattern baldness. It is intended for men to help stabilize hair loss and promote regrowth in thinning areas; however, it is not suitable for use on frontal baldness or receding hairlines. Tugain Solution is most effective when hair loss has just begun or is recent, particularly in small areas of the vertex. It cannot cure baldness but can help slow down hair loss progression in both the frontal and vertex regions of the scalp. Additionally, Tugain Solution should not be used by women experiencing female pattern baldness.

Tugain Solution contains Minoxidil, a vasodilator that expands blood vessels. It is believed to stimulate hair follicle growth by enhancing blood circulation in the scalp and promoting cell proliferation in dormant hair follicles. Another possible action is that minoxidil in Tugain Solution extends the anagen, or active growth phase, of hair follicles, which can prevent premature entry into the resting phase (telogen). Hair loss results from the shrinking of hair follicles that begin producing progressively smaller and thinner hairs that eventually fail to emerge. The longer hair follicles remain inactive, the more challenging it becomes for them to respond and initiate new growth.

For optimal results, apply Tugain Solution twice daily—once in the morning and once in the evening—when your hair and scalp are clean and dry, focusing on the areas of hair loss. Use the applicator to deposit the solution centrally in the affected region and gently spread it over the skin to cover the entire area. Allow the solution to dry for 4 hours before washing it off, or let it dry for 2 to 4 hours before going to bed. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after application; be sure to apply only to the scalp to avoid unwanted hair growth elsewhere. Only use Tugain Solution on healthy areas of the scalp with unbroken skin. Continuously using the product is crucial, with new hair growth typically observable after 3 to 4 months. If you discontinue its use, the new hair will cease to grow, and you may lose it.

If you forget to apply Tugain Solution, use it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose; in that case, skip the missed dose. Do not exceed two applications in a day to compensate for a missed one.

The most frequently reported side effects of Tugain Solution include local irritation at the application site, such as redness, dry skin, itching, a burning sensation, scalp flaking, and rashes. Initially, you may notice changes in hair color or texture, and increased hair shedding as older hairs are replaced by new ones. Additionally, if Tugain Solution comes into contact with other areas, such as the forehead, it may cause hypertrichosis, leading to unwanted hair growth.

Tugain Solution should not be used if you: are allergic to minoxidil or any of its ingredients; lack a family history of hair loss; experience sudden or unexplained hair loss; have an inflamed, irritated, infected, or painful scalp, including conditions like sunburn or psoriasis; have cardiovascular issues without consulting your doctor; or are taking medications that could interact with Tugain Gel, including other topical treatments like tretinoin for acne, anthralin, and dithranol for psoriasis.

Store your Tugain Solution below 25°C in a cool, dry place and shield it from light.
