Manufacturer: Cipla, India
Pharmaceutical name: Terbinafine Hydrochloride
Pack: 15 pills (250 mg)
Terbicip is indicated for the treatment of fungal skin infections, including tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and skin yeast infections caused by Candida species, particularly when oral treatment is preferred due to the infection's location, severity, or extent. Additionally, it is effective against Tinea capitis and Onychomycosis (nail fungal infection) due to dermatophyte fungi. The primary active component of Terbicip is Terbinafine Hydrochloride.
The suggested dosage for adults is one 250 mg tablet of Terbicip taken once daily. The duration of treatment can vary based on the type and severity of the infection.
It is important to take Terbicip at the same time each day to avoid peaks in medication levels in your body. This ensures the medication's optimal effectiveness and maintains a steady concentration of the active ingredient in your bloodstream. Consistent timing may also reduce the likelihood of side effects. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose; never take a double dose of Terbicip, even if you missed doses over several days. Taking an extra dose can increase the risk of side effects without providing additional benefits. Terbicip is typically administered once daily for a duration of 6 to 12 weeks, and it should be taken with a full glass of water.
Terbicip is not suitable for those with hypersensitivity to Terbinafine HCl or any of its inactive ingredients.
The most frequently observed side effects during treatment with Terbicip included gastrointestinal issues (such as diarrhea, dyspepsia, and abdominal pain), abnormal liver test results, rashes, urticaria, itching, and taste alterations. Generally, these side effects were mild, temporary, and did not necessitate discontinuation of the treatment.
Seek immediate medical help or visit the nearest doctor's office, hospital, or emergency room if you experience an allergic or hypersensitive reaction, which may include difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face or limbs, tightness in the chest, hives, or skin rashes. Cease taking Terbicip and contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe side effects such as: fever, chills, body aches, flu-like symptoms, sores in the mouth or throat; joint pain or swelling, swollen lymph nodes, patchy skin color, or a butterfly-shaped rash on your cheeks and nose; changes in mood or behavior; hearing issues; weight loss caused by altered taste; raised, silvery skin flakes; or
a severe skin reaction, characterized by fever, sore throat, facial or tongue swelling, burning eyes, skin pain, and the development of a red or purple rash that spreads (especially on the face or upper body) and leads to blistering and peeling.
Less severe side effects of Terbicip may include: upset stomach, gas, diarrhea, mild nausea or abdominal discomfort; headache, dizziness, or a spinning sensation; mild rash or itching; or an unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth.
