Tamsufine is classified as an alpha-blocker. It is prescribed to enhance urination in individuals with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia). The medication functions by relaxing the muscles in the bladder neck and prostate, facilitating easier urine flow. Tamsulosin is not intended for use by women or children.
To use Tamsufine safely, inform your doctor if you have a history of or are currently experiencing any of the following conditions: low blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, or allergic reactions to sulfa drugs.
Tamsufine should be taken with a prescription. Adhere closely to the instructions provided on the prescription label and do not take smaller or larger doses than advised. Additionally, do not use Tamsufine for longer or shorter than the recommended duration.
The usual dosage is once daily, taken 30 minutes after a meal. Consistently taking Tamsufine at the same time each day will help ensure optimal results while minimizing the risk of under- or overdosing. The initial daily dose is generally 0.4mg, with a maximum daily limit of 0.8mg. Your physician may adjust the dosage periodically to obtain the best results. Throughout the treatment, your doctor will routinely monitor your blood pressure and assess for prostate cancer before and during the course of therapy.
