Atazanavir - 300 mg
Ritonavir - 100 mg.
Atazanavir and Ritonavir are the main active components found in Synthivan. This medication is crucial in the category of antiretroviral drugs and falls within the protease inhibitor (PI) class. Both Atazanavir and Ritonavir possess the ability to combat various viruses, including herpes, shingles, chickenpox, and others. It is available in tablet form for oral administration.
Synthivan is used to treat infections caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). A notable feature of Atazanavir is that it can be administered once a day, contrasting with other PIs that require multiple daily doses. Ritonavir acts as an HIV protease inhibitor, disrupting the reproductive cycle of the HIV virus.
Ritonavir's mechanism of action is thought to involve its role as a protease inhibitor with efficacy against Human Immunodeficiency Virus type one (HIV-1). These protease inhibitors obstruct a specific part of HIV known as protease. Atazanavir (ATV) is an amino acid peptide antiviral agent for HIV-1, effective against Human Immunodeficiency Virus type one (HIV-1). The HIV-1 protease enzyme is critical for the proteolytic cleavage of viral polyprotein precursors into distinct functional proteins present in infectious HIV-1. Atazanavir latches onto the active site of the protease, inhibiting its enzymatic activity.
