Sucramal is a gastric protective agent that creates a barrier on the ulcer, shielding it from acid, bile salts, and enzymes in the stomach. It is effectively used for both the treatment and prevention of ulcers and may sometimes be prescribed for other medical conditions.
It's recommended that you take Sucramal as directed by your physician, by mouth, on an empty stomach. Consume Sucramal at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
Avoid taking antacids for at least 30 minutes prior to or following your Sucramal dose. Additionally, do not use Sucramal concurrently with other medications. Consult your doctor regarding the potential interactions of Sucramal with other drugs.
Sucramal acts as a gastric protector by forming a barrier on the ulcer against acid, bile salts, and enzymes in the stomach. Therefore, taking other medications simultaneously with Sucramal is discouraged, as it may reduce their effectiveness.
If you forget to take a dose of Sucramal, do so as soon as you remember. However, if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time.
Avoid using Sucramal if: you have an allergy to any of its components; you are pregnant; you are breastfeeding (as Sucramal can be found in breast milk); you are younger than 12 years; or you are taking other medications that contain aluminum (since Sucramal includes aluminum).
While using Sucramal, exercise caution during any potentially hazardous activities, as it may cause dizziness.
Common side effects of Sucramal may include: dizziness; constipation; sensations of spinning; and allergic reactions (such as trouble breathing; hives; rash; itching; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).
