Perinorm can significantly enhance the rate at which the stomach and intestines process food during digestion. This medication is beneficial in treating diabetic gastric stasis, a condition that leads to unpleasant symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, heartburn, and a prolonged sensation of fullness after eating. It can also be used to address heartburn or reflux issues.
Perinorm is indicated for: nausea, vomiting, functional digestive disturbances, reflux esophagitis, atony, and hypotension of the stomach and duodenum; and as preparation for diagnostic examinations of the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications include: hypersensitivity, glaucoma, pheochromocytoma, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disorders, pregnancy (first trimester), and breastfeeding (it is advised to stop breastfeeding during treatment).
The most common side effects include: dry mouth, constipation or diarrhea, drowsiness, depression, extrapyramidal symptoms (including involuntary facial muscle contractions and eye movement issues), edema, galactorrhea, menstrual cycle disturbances, nasal mucosa hyperemia, and skin rashes.
Symptoms of an overdose may include: hypersomnia, disorientation, and extrapyramidal disorders. Treatment usually resolves on its own within 24 hours after discontinuation of the medication; if necessary, a cholinolytic may be prescribed.
