Lumigan is an eye drop medication primarily utilized for managing symptoms of glaucoma. These drops work by facilitating the drainage of fluid in the eyes, thereby reducing intraocular pressure. While it is mainly prescribed for glaucoma treatment, Lumigan is also used to encourage the growth of healthy, new eyelashes, enhancing their length, volume, and color.

 

The main component of Lumigan is Bimatoprost Ophthalmic solution. This eye drop is effective for individuals with ocular hypertension and open angle glaucoma. Additionally, Lumigan helps alleviate eye pain associated with pressure by lowering intraocular pressure. Elevated pressure in the eyes due to glaucoma can ultimately result in vision loss. If you use contact lenses, be sure to remove them prior to applying these drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.

 

Lumigan may cause side effects, including changes in eye color, where parts of the iris or the entire iris may gradually turn brown, as well as alterations in color perception, blindness, night vision difficulties, halos around lights, increased sensitivity to bright colors or lights, blurred or double vision, dry eyes, swelling, pain, and redness in or around the eyes and eyelids, along with a burning or itching sensation and tunnel vision.
