Lopimune consists of a fixed-dose combination of two antiretroviral medications, Ritonavir and Lopinavir, which are utilized for the treatment of HIV infection.
Lopinavir falls under the category of antiretroviral agents. Ritonavir, on the other hand, is classified as a protease inhibitor, which works to stop HIV from replicating within the body.
Lopinavir is specifically used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and is always administered in conjunction with other HIV treatment medications. Ritonavir is also utilized alongside other drugs for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV 1) infection.
Potential side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; elevated cholesterol levels; or alterations in the distribution or shape of body fat, particularly in areas such as the arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist.
