Lanzol is part of a class of medications known as proton pump inhibitors. It reduces the production of stomach acid. Lanzol is utilized to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines, as well as erosive esophagitis (which is damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid) and other conditions related to excessive stomach acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is important to note that Lanzol isn't intended for the rapid relief of heartburn symptoms. Additionally, Lanzol might be used for other reasons not mentioned in this medication guide.
Lanzol is not meant for quick relief of heartburn symptoms. Certain conditions may require a combination of Lanzol and antibiotics for treatment. Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding medication use. Refer to the medication guide or patient instructions that come with each prescription. Never change your dosage or medication schedule without consulting your doctor first.
Heartburn is frequently mistaken for early signs of a heart attack. If you experience chest pain or a sensation of heaviness, pain radiating to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, or a general sense of unwellness, seek emergency medical help. Consult a doctor or pharmacist to confirm if it is safe for you to use Lanzol if you have liver issues or low magnesium levels in your blood.
If you are taking sucralfate, ensure you do not take it simultaneously with Lanzol, as it can hinder the absorption of Lanzol. Wait at least 30 minutes after taking Lanzol before consuming sucralfate. Follow through with the full prescribed duration of Lanzol treatment. Your symptoms might improve before the infection is fully resolved. Lanzol should only be taken once every 24 hours for a duration of 14 days. It may require up to 4 days to see its full effects. Do not exceed one tablet every 24 hours, and allow at least 4 months to elapse before starting another 14-day course of Lanzol. Contact your doctor for additional treatment if symptoms arise before the 4-month interval has passed.
Do not use over-the-counter Lanzol without a doctor’s guidance if you experience: difficulty or pain when swallowing; bloody or dark stools; vomiting that resembles blood or coffee grounds; heartburn persisting for more than 3 months; frequent chest pain; heartburn accompanied by wheezing; unexplained weight loss; nausea or vomiting; stomach pain; or an electrolyte imbalance or metabolic disorder.
The most common side effects include: constipation; diarrhea; headache; nausea; pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site; stomach discomfort.
