I-Pill is a single-dose emergency contraceptive that offers a safe and convenient method to avoid unplanned pregnancy following unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure.
Some individuals refer to the I-Pill as the "morning after pill." It can also serve as a backup birth control option in certain situations, including contraceptive failure, unprotected sex, incorrect use of regular birth control methods, and instances of non-consensual sex.
I-Pill works by preventing ovulation, fertilization, or the implantation of an egg in the uterus, thereby averting pregnancy.
The I-Pill should be taken as quickly as possible after unprotected sexual activity—ideally within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours.
If taken within 24 hours after unprotected sex, the I-Pill is 95% effective.
The I-Pill is not an abortion pill. It will not terminate a pregnancy that has already commenced, as it is ineffective if the individual is already pregnant. Additionally, the I-Pill does not offer protection against or prevent HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases.
