Floricot is utilized for managing adrenocortical insufficiency in Addison's disease and for addressing salt-losing adrenogenital syndrome. Floricot functions as a corticosteroid, stimulating the kidneys to retain sodium and serving as a substitute for cortisone when the body fails to produce sufficient amounts.
Administer Floricot according to your physician's instructions. Refer to the label for precise dosing guidelines. You can take Floricot orally, with or without food. If you experience stomach upset, it is advisable to take it with food to minimize irritation. Do not abruptly discontinue Floricot, as this could increase your risk of side effects. Should you need to stop taking Floricot or introduce another medication, your doctor will gradually reduce your dosage.
If you forget to take a dose of Floricot, do so as soon as you remember. If your next dose is nearing, skip the missed dose and continue with your usual dosing schedule. Do not double up on doses. Feel free to reach out to your healthcare provider with any inquiries regarding the use of Floricot.
Avoid using Floricot if: you are allergic to any of its ingredients; you have a systemic fungal infection; or you are about to receive a smallpox vaccination.
Promptly contact your doctor or healthcare provider if any of these situations apply to you.
Certain medical conditions may interfere with Floricot. Inform your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, particularly if any of the following pertain to you: if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or are nursing; if you are taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications, herbal remedies, or dietary supplements; if you have allergies to medications, foods, or other substances; if you are scheduled for a live virus vaccine (e.g., smallpox); if you have a history of hypothyroidism, liver or kidney issues, heart complications or previous heart attacks, bleeding disorders, diabetes, hypertension, esophageal inflammation, gastrointestinal issues (e.g., ulcers), bowel obstructions or other bowel disorders (e.g., ulcerative colitis), recent bowel surgery, myasthenia gravis, or mental health problems (e.g., depression); if you have measles, chickenpox, herpes eye infections, or any other bacterial, fungal, parasitic, or viral infections; if you have recently had tuberculosis (TB) or tested positive for TB.
