Fliban is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for acquired, generalized Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. This non-hormonal medication enhances certain neurochemicals like noradrenaline and dopamine, helping to correct the chemical imbalances in the brain linked to acquired hypoactive sexual desire disorder or decreased sexual interest.
Fliban is prescribed for premenopausal women diagnosed with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), which is defined by a significant lack of sexual desire that results in marked distress or relationship difficulties and is not attributed to an underlying medical or psychiatric issue, relationship issues, or the side effects of medications or other substances.
To minimize the risk of hypotension, syncope, accidental injury, and central nervous system depression, Fliban should be taken at bedtime, as taking it during the day may pose additional risks.
It should be discontinued after 8 weeks if no improvement is observed.
Your risk of experiencing severe low blood pressure and fainting (loss of consciousness) is heightened if you take Fliban and: avoid alcohol while using Fliban; do not start taking any new prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, or herbal supplements without consulting your doctor first. Your physician will determine if it’s safe for you to use other medicines or herbal products while on Fliban; and you should not take Fliban if you have liver issues.
Sleepiness is a frequently occurring side effect of Fliban and can be serious. The likelihood of experiencing sleepiness increases if Fliban is taken during the day, if you consume alcohol, or if you take certain medications or herbal supplements.
Low blood pressure and fainting (loss of consciousness) can occur even if you avoid alcohol and other medications or herbal supplements. The risk of such events is further elevated if Fliban is taken while awake, if alcohol is consumed, or if certain medications or herbal supplements are used simultaneously.
