Expigment Cream is a topical agent used for skin bleaching and lightening, effective in addressing freckles, age spots, melasma, and other skin discolorations that may arise from pregnancy, skin damage, the use of birth control pills, or hormone replacement therapies. Additionally, Expigment Cream can help in treating acne scars and various skin disorders and discolorations. Hydroquinone, the active component, functions by refining and clarifying the deeper layers of skin, thereby eliminating spotted areas and blemishes.
Hydroquinone triggers specific enzymes that inhibit melanin production, resulting in a lighter and brighter skin tone. This cream contains an ingredient called tyrosinase, an enzyme that plays a key role in melanin synthesis, which is responsible for the pigmentation of our skin. By reducing the level of melanin through Hydroquinone and its active components, the darker skin gradually becomes lighter, aligning with your natural skin tone.
Before each application, it’s crucial to test for skin sensitivity. You can do this by applying a small amount of the cream to a patch of your hyper-pigmented skin. If there is no itching or redness after 24 hours, you can commence treatment. Ensure the skin is clean and dry before application. Apply a thin layer of Expigment Cream to the affected area(s) twice daily. Massage it into the skin thoroughly. Use just enough to cover the affected regions and refrain from applying to unaffected areas, as Expigment Cream may lighten them as well. Remember to wash your hands after application unless you intend to treat those areas too. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Be cautious about using other medicated topical products (especially peroxide-based ones) on the same areas simultaneously unless your physician advises otherwise. When using non-medicated cosmetics, sunscreens, and moisturizers, apply hydroquinone first, then wait a few minutes before layering other products over it.
Potential side effects include dryness, cracking of the paranasal and infraorbital areas, redness, mild stinging, occasional irritability, slight itching, and redness.
Expigment Cream should be applied to the affected areas and thoroughly massaged in twice daily, in the morning and just before bed, or as directed by your physician. If there is no noticeable improvement after 2 months of use, discontinue use of the product immediately. If you notice no lightening effect after 3 months, cease treatment with Expigment Cream. Once your skin has lightened, you may continue using the cream as per your doctor's guidance. There is no recommended dosage for pediatric patients under 12 years of age unless directed and monitored by a physician.
