Elocon cream is used to address the inflammation and itching associated with various skin conditions, including allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis. Apply Elocon cream precisely as indicated on the label or as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Avoid using the medication in quantities larger than recommended or for an extended duration. Elocon can be absorbed through the skin, potentially causing steroid-related side effects throughout the body. Do not cover the treated areas of skin with a bandage or other materials unless directed by your doctor. If you are applying it to a baby's diaper area, refrain from using plastic pants or tight-fitting diapers. Covering the skin where Elocon is applied can increase the amount of medication your skin absorbs, leading to possible adverse effects. Adhere to your doctor's recommendations.

 

Do not apply Elocon cream to a child without a physician's approval. Children are more prone to absorbing excessive amounts of a topical steroid through their skin. This absorption in children can result in unwanted side effects or hinder growth with prolonged use. Consult your doctor if you suspect your child is not growing at an expected pace while using Elocon for an extended treatment duration. Reach out to your doctor if your condition does not improve within two weeks of using this medication, or if you notice signs of a bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infection.

 

Avoid using Elocon if you are allergic to mometasone. Prior to using Elocon cream, inform your doctor if you are allergic to any medications or if you have any type of skin infection. Also, disclose any diabetes condition you may have. Topical steroid medications that are absorbed through the skin can elevate your glucose (sugar) levels in blood or urine.

 

Elocon may pose risks to an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is unclear whether Elocon excretes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing infant. Avoid using Elocon without consulting your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Refrain from using Elocon on a child without medical advice, as children are more likely to absorb significant amounts of a topical steroid through their skin, which may lead to adverse reactions or impact their growth with prolonged use. Discuss with your doctor if you believe your child is not experiencing normal growth while undergoing a lengthy treatment with Elocon.
