Manufacturer: Ranbaxy, India
Pharmaceutical name: Eflornithine Hydrochloride
Pack: 1 tube (15 gm (13.9%))
Eflora contains Eflornithine Hydrochloride, which inhibits the enzyme ornithine decarboxylase necessary for hair growth. It is designed to decrease the rate of unwanted facial hair growth in women experiencing hirsutism or postmenopausal facial hair growth, as well as in male to female transsexuals.

Eflora is utilized to address unwanted hair on the face, including areas around the lips and chin, particularly in conditions like hirsutism, which is often due to excessive androgen production, and is also a natural result of aging during menopause. While Eflora helps to slow down excessive or unwanted hair growth, it is not a depilatory treatment, meaning it does not “cure” the presence of unwanted hair. Moreover, Eflora cream can be employed to minimize facial hair and enhance appearance in male to female transsexuals.

Eflora is typically well tolerated, though some minor and temporary skin irritations have been noted, which may include: itching, dryness, redness, stinging, burning, tingling, rash, follicle irritation, and ingrown hairs.

To use Eflora, apply it twice daily—generally in the morning and evening—with at least an eight-hour gap between applications. It may take 4 to 8 weeks of treatment to observe the full benefits of Eflora cream, so you should maintain your current hair removal methods (such as plucking or shaving) during this period.

Apply a thin layer of Eflora cream to the affected areas of the face and beneath the chin, ensuring it is thoroughly rubbed in. Avoid washing your face for at least 4 hours after applying the cream. After the cream has been absorbed and dried, you can proceed to apply cosmetics and sunscreen over it. If you discontinue the use of Eflora cream for a prolonged period, hair will begin to regrow at the same rate and return to its pre-treatment condition.
